Invitation to 2012 International Student Conference on Environment and Sustainability in Shanghai

International Student Conference on Environment and Sustainability (ISCES) was initiated by the proposal of Prof. WANG Guangtao, Chairman of Environment Protection and Resources Conservation Committee of National People’s Congress of China, Chairman of the Advisory Board of Unep – Tongji Institute of Environment for Sustainable Development (IESD). The 1st ISCES was co-organized by UNEP and Tongji University successfully in Shanghai from June 5th to 8th, 2011. During this conference, nearly 400 young students from more than 35 countries and well-known specialists and scholars came together to discuss the latest topics, including Water and Forest, Green Mobility, Eco-Urbanism & Cultural Heritage, etc. As one of the most significant outcomes, Global Youth Tongji Declaration was released on the closing ceremony, and the Declaration emphasizes that “The Conference at Tongji University was an optimal platform to promote the important role of youth in large-scale decisions”.

The 2012 International Student Conference on Environment and Sustainability (ISCES) will be held from June 5th to 8th in Shanghai, China. The conference will invite young students, who are the future managers, policy makers, scientists and actionists, to experience the local green economy in Shanghai, to visit local eco-industry and to share their insight and understandings of environment and sustainability. During the conference, participants will join various activities, including keynote speeches, field visits, parallel group workshops and poster voting. The TOP 10 best poster winners will be awarded. Lastly, a booklet of 2012 ISCES with posters, proposals, summaries, reports and other forms of research outcomes will be published and disseminated in Rio +20.
